Certification
How do I become a certified DKB FIT® instructor?
The path has four stages: take the class as a student, complete the foundations course, pass the certification camp with Angie Huingo, then teach. Enrolment is open now for DKB Extreme certification, which has confirmed 2026–2027 weekend dates — reserve your place in the DKB Extreme section of this site. DKB FIT certification dates have not been announced yet; join the certification list and you will hear first.
Which DKB certification can I enrol in right now?
DKB Extreme instructor certification is open, with confirmed weekend dates running monthly from October 2026 through December 2027. Do I need prior qualifications or experience to certify?
No. There are no prerequisites. DKB instructors currently range from 12 to 87 years old, and most come to DKB from other group fitness formats — around 90% were Zumba instructors first.
Do I have to recertify or pay an annual fee?
No. DKB certification is held for life. There is no recertification and no renewal fee. DKB runs updates and continuing training for certified instructors instead.
Can I teach other fitness programs as a DKB instructor?
Yes. DKB does not require exclusivity. You can teach Zumba, another format, or run your own classes alongside DKB with no contract restricting you.
Can I teach DKB FIT® at my gym?
Once you are certified you can teach the method anywhere in the world, including at a gym or studio where you already work. If you are a gym or studio wanting to bring DKB in as a venue rather than through an individual instructor, call or text (561) 366-2041 and we will talk it through.
What language is the certification taught in?
English and Spanish. DKB operates bilingually across 14 countries, and Angie teaches in both.

What DKB FIT® is
What is DKB FIT®?
DKB FIT® stands for Dance Kickboxing Fitness. It is a group fitness method created by Angie Huingo that fuses dance choreography with cardio kickboxing — endurance, strength, coordination and confidence trained in the same hour, synchronised to original DKB music.
Is DKB FIT® a dance workout or a kickboxing workout?
Both, deliberately. The dance side brings choreography, rhythm and expression; the kickboxing side brings technique, structure and strength. The fusion is the method — it is not a dance class with punches added, or a kickboxing class set to music.
What makes DKB different from a regular cardio kickboxing class?
Every punch and kick has a direction and a purpose rather than striking air, and correct body mechanics are taught explicitly. Classes also use vocalisation as a release. Students regularly describe finishing a class feeling lighter emotionally as well as physically.
What is DKB Extreme?
DKB Extreme is DKB FIT® 2.0 — military bootcamp meets dance kickboxing. The rhythm and choreography of DKB driven into push-ups, burpees, mountain climbers, squats, lunges and explosive kickboxing combinations. When the beat rises, the intensity rises. It is led by Sgt. Tony Hill, Master Bootcamp Instructor, with Angie Huingo, and serves as continued education for instructors who want to take DKB to the elite level.
Is DKB FIT® suitable for beginners?
Yes. No dance or martial arts experience is needed — the method is taught in layers, and instructors build each combination step by step. People who have never kickboxed before start in the same class as everyone else.
Am I too old to start kickboxing?
No. DKB's own certified instructors range from 12 to 87 years old, and a large part of the membership is women in their forties, fifties, sixties and beyond. Angie's position is that you are never too old to restart your inner child.
Who created DKB FIT®?
Angie Huingo. Born in Lima, Peru and in the United States since age eleven, she has 24 years in practice as a neuromuscular therapist, is a certified Tae Bo® instructor and official Billy Blanks representative for Latin America, and is the first Latina to found and own an internationally expanding kickboxing fitness brand. She founded DKB in 2020.
DKB Music
Is there original DKB music for instructors and workouts?
Yes. DKB has its own catalogue of original tracks, most written by Angie Huingo, produced by Dizzle On Tha Beat and co-produced by Tony Hill. Tracks are $1.99 each as instant MP3 downloads, purchased through DKB Online.
What kind of music is used in DKB FIT® classes?
Latin American rhythm — salsa, reggaeton, merengue, cumbia, Latin house and percussion-driven sound. The choreography is synchronised to the beat, so you are training inside the music rather than exercising alongside it.
